Sandra Benson is a partner in the law firm of Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld, specializing in the representation of Unions, Employee Benefit Trust Funds and Union Apprenticeship Programs. Ms. Benson did her undergraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley and graduated from Boalt Hall Law School, Berkeley, California.

Ms. Benson was appointed by the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to serve on the Judges’ Advisory Committee which is composed of an elite group of 35 attorneys with extensive practice in the federal court. She was also appointed to serve as Labor’s Representative on the Blue Ribbon Committee for Apprenticeship Standards for the State of California and currently serves on the Blue Ribbon Committee For Retention of Women in the Construction Industry.
Ms. Benson also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Labor Lawyers Coordinating Committee.

Ms. Benson annually teaches a class in “Labor Law in the Construction Industry” at the National Labor College, Meany Center, Silver Spring, Maryland and has delivered papers and lectures for various groups including the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Her most recent publication, “Apprenticeship Programs and Federal Employment Law,” is published in the Benefits & Compensation Digest, Vol. 42, No. 4, December, 2005.

Ms. Benson has represented Unions, Employee Benefit Trust Funds and Apprenticeship Programs in jury and non-jury trials all across the United States, and has been the key note speaker at numerous conferences across the country on labor-related issues.

Ms. Benson also specializes in negotiating Project Labor Agreements and has negotiated some of the largest PLAs in the country, including the ground-breaking Port of Oakland Maritime and Aviation Agreement and the Hetch Hetchy Water Improvement Project Agreement which is currently the largest public works water project in the United States.
