Ms. Fendel is an attorney and legal educator specializing in helping non-lawyers to understand the law, and creating legal resources that provide practical, comprehensive and up-to-date information to attorneys and others, in a wide variety of legal specialties.  She has worked for the California Department of Industrial Relations, The Painting and Drywall Work Preservation Fund, Legal Services Foundation, National Paralegal Institute and with many unions and labor/management groups. In 1984 Ms. Fendel, along with Patricia Gates, authored the Public Works Manual, the first practice-oriented national publication on union efforts to promote compliance with public works laws. From 1988 – 2006 she worked for the California Faculty Association (NEA/SEIU 1983), where she held a variety of positions including regional representative, membership specialist, arbitration specialist, and Director of Organizing.  She has been with Weinberg, Roger and Rosenfeld since 2006, specializing in helping construction unions promote compliance with the laws governing public works construction. She is also the editor of the Public Works Web Site, and a trainer with the Alliance for Labor Standards Education and Training. In her spare time, Ms. Fendel sings with the Rockin’ Solidarity Labor Chorus, and is the chair of the organizing committee for the Western Workers Labor Heritage Festival.
