California Legislature Gets Ready for The Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")

The California Legislature is currently in Special Session, to consider dozens of laws necessary to implement the new Federal Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare"). Many of the provision of the ACA are already in effect, but the big changes will come with the full opening of the California Exchange website in July, 2013 (see a preview at www.coveredca.com), open enrollment starting October 1, 2013, and coverage starting January 1, 2014.

We have prepared a brief nine-slide powerpoint presentation covering some of the most important bills the Legislature is considering, including the bill that details "bridge plans" for people earning between 133% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

If you would like a copy of this powerpoint presentation, please send an email to bsokol@unioncounsel.net requesting it.
